Please consider volunteering with SHIBA
SHIBA is an acronym for Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance. Nationally, we are a part of the SHIP network (State Health Insurance Assistance Programs).
This program is funded by the same agency that funds Medicare. Each state receives grant funds from the Administration for Community Living. In Oregon, SHIBA is housed within the Adults and People with Disabilities (APD) unit. NWSDS is one of the 14 contracted community partners providing local SHIBA counseling services and outreach. Telephone, Zoom, or face to face counseling services in NWSDS offices are available to consumers.
SHIBA’s mission is to ensure Medicare beneficiaries have personalized consumer counseling that is accurate, objective, comprehensive, and understandable.
